Jack McNaboe
Mayor - Manalapan Township

It's an honor to be running to retain my seat on the Manalapan Township Committee. My wife, Debbie, and I have lived in Manalapan for 33 years, and we are proud to have raised our 30 year old son, Robert, here. As a United States Air Force Veteran, I believe very strongly in giving back to my community, a belief I live by every day.

I was appointed to the Township Committee in March of 2013, elected to the Township Committee in November of 2013 and reelected in November of 2014 and 2017. I have been working consistently to make Manalapan an even better place to live. All Municipal budgets during my tenure were flat or modest increase while maintaining all services. As a member of the Township Committee, I will continue to ensure that everything possible is being done to safeguard taxpayer money. I have and will continue to invest in and grow our town resources responsibly while maintaining a stable budget.

Prior to serving on the Township Committee, I was an active volunteer in Manalapan for a dozen years, serving on the Veterans Affairs Committee- Finance committee and within the Office of Emergency Management (OEM). In addition, I have served on the Manalapan Township Planning Board for thirteen years as a Board Member, two of those years as Chairman, three as Deputy Mayor and three as Mayor. Super Storm Sandy and Hurricane Isaias also highlighted the importance of communicating with residents before, during and after an emergency. Much work has been done to strengthen our area of vulnerability & build on our successes. Contact information and information distribution have been greatly enhanced. We have members in most communities designated to get real time information when another emergency arises. We continue to look at all our ordinances and revise as needed to keep with the times. I met many residents during Hurricane Irene or Super Storm Sandy as the Damage Assessment Coordinator for the Manalapan OEM team. I visited a great many of the damaged homes throughout the town. During the latest Hurricane Isaias, using that same management style, I met with hundreds of residents before, during and after power restoration in driveways and street corners. When the Covid-19 pandemic started I started live Mayor's updates on TV and they were posted on our Township website and Facebook page. I found this to be an important way to keep our residents informed.

I also understand the Municipal Land Use Law and will work to encourage good clean businesses to supplement our quality of life. We need to be ready to ensure that Manalapan's best interests are the top priorities.

In my professional life, I was a successful business owner in the construction field for over 20 years, and I know first-hand the challenges that small business owners face in the current economy. I have built and grown a business and have met a weekly payroll. As a member of the Township Committee, I will continue to work in support of Manalapan businesses so they can thrive in our community. Doing so helps to create jobs and offset your property taxes.

Deb and I are now empty nesters. We had a great era of watching our son play sports in a first-class recreational facility. I continue to work with my colleagues to preserve and improve that same facility. The rec-center now boasts a 5k walk-run-bike trail, splash park, special needs & youth playground and world class fields.

I am sure many of you would ask why I or anyone would want this elected position. The answer is simple; I am at a time in my life that I have the time and ability to contribute substantially to the community that I have called home for over half of my life. I thank you for your past support and ask for your continued support and your vote on November 3, 2020.
